Fabulous Finish T4 W7

For these past weeks, I have been working on my Fab Finish for the book Ghost. For the other terms I have done 1 of each of the tasks so this term I decided to do something different, a picture of the main characters (Patty, Ghost, Coach, Sonny and Lou) along with a description. After that, I did a simple background of rainbow dots. But still, I wanted to do an overflowing jar of honey so I made a few cuts and made a pop out. Overall I rate it a 10/10 because it is exactly how I wanted it. 

 

Survival backpack

I made a backpack with stuff you bring while camping.

Bush Survival (key things to know)

• What is the S.T.O.P acronym for survival

1. Stop. Think. Observe. Plan.

2. Stop Take a Breath Proceed
3. Strategy Targeting Organizing Piracy

• Finding fresh water  

     1. It would be best if you go somewhere around natural water.         

      2. Before you go camping make sure to bring a filter, so you can filter the natural water that you have found.

      3. It is best to not drink out of puddles and lakes instead you can drink from rivers, creeks, and streams of snowmelt.

• Shelter

1. With a shelter, you need to stay on high grounds away from water.

2. You want your shelter to be inclosed from insects so you can have a peaceful sleep.

3. If you want to make a shelter make sure you are close to trees so you can make it.

• Fire
• 1. When you make a fire you want it to be not too large because it can use more

• of your energy when you don't need to use it.
• 2. You will need dry kindling, tinder and logs to make a fire.
• 3. It is best to make a fire where the wind is not blowing right at it, next to a bolder is best.
• 
  

• Basic first aid

1. It is always good to bring a first aid kit just in case someone will get hurt.

2. It is best to bring bug spray, bandages, plasters etc etc etc.

3. You need to watch out for sharp objects so always have a bandage.

• Signalling for help

1. One of the most common things to do if you are trapped and lost you make an S.O.S in the ground or with sticks then people will see from above that someone there.

2. Another thing that people do is making a big fire for everyone can see.

3. Or three fires in a row is another common way to do it.

CC W5 T4 Digital Design

For this week I made 2 tasks my first one was Research and today I finished a Digital Design, create a new book cover for the book Ghost. What I did was, I had a picture of the real front cover for inspiration on how to design mine and then next to it was my cover. I found it hard not to do the same design the original cover but I think I made it my own. Out of 10, I rate it a 10/10 because it is exactly how I wanted it.

CC W5 T4 Pic n Mix

This week I did Research centre as my pic n Mix for this week, we got to choose any task from the previous weeks  I chose to research about albinism since Lou is an albino. I found it hard to present my work not to rainbow since albinos are white, but I just added some pink since some albinos have pink eyes. I rate my work a 9/10 because it doesn't look like an exact 10 to me.

 

Wharangi Tree

Did you know:

That the Wharangi Tree is part of the citrus family, its leaves have got oil glands on them. 

When the leaves are crushed they make a sent like lemon and lime.

The Maori would chew the gum from Wharangi for a cure of bad breath.

Where do you usually find it?

you can find the Wharangi tree in the North Cape to Nelson.

What different names does it have?

it only has two different names Melicope Ternata and Wharangi both really cool.

What does the Wharangi Tree look like? 

They have leaves arranged in groups of trees and they have wavey margins but still thin. they have a yellow-green colour.

How can humans use it? 

like I said earlier the Maori used the tree gum as gum to get away bad breath.

Clove Hitch

This is my knot it is a clove hitch the best way to use it is to tie it to another knot to make 2 knots in separate ways it is also a great binding knot. -for difficulty, I rate it a 2.5/5 because it was easy to do after my second try.

CC W4 T4 Digital Design

This week I did Digital Design of a short version of the book ghost, I made it on a website called Storyboard that it was my first time using it so I had to use resilience with trying to get it to work but I ended up making it really good. I definitely recommend using it. I rate it a 4.5/5 because it was as tricky to use but really effective.

Reef Knot

This is my reef knot it is great for sailers to hold things together, like a bundle of objects, they are really strong and great to use for multiple of different objects. In a difficulty rating from 1 to 5, I rate it a 1/5 because after seeing it once I knew it off by heart.

Bowline Knot

This is my bowline knot the best way to use a Bowline knot is while sailing to fix the sail of the boat, it is also a knot that people use to get stuck people out of holes.out of five in difficulty was a 4/5 because it took me a long time to make it without looking.

 Alpine Butterfly

This is my knot Alpine Butterfly the best way that you could use an Alpine Butterfly knot is used in a rope with fixed ends, they also can lake a lot of weight and still not break. For difficulty, I rate it a 2/5 because it took me a few times to make it them I knew it off by heart.
