Chapter Chat

Today I have finished my Chapter Chat, I made a poster with simple German words and sentences. I'm really happy with what I have done because I have put a lot of effort into making it the best I can. I drew pretzels in the background because it is a thing that Germany is famous for ( and they are very good! ). I wrote all of the words and put them in speech bubble as if it was words that someone was saying them. The hardest part when making my poster was drawing the pretzels because it was a very confusing shape, but I think I did alright. Overall I'm really happy with I have done because I have put my best effort into making this poster the best that I can, o that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Chapter Chat

Today I finished my Chapter Chat task, I made a gas mask. The reason I made a gas mask is that, in the book that we are reading, Code name Bananas, they needed to have something to cover Gertrude the gorilla's face and one of the options was a gas mask but unforcedly she didn't like it. This task was really fun because I really wanted to make it wearable and in the end, I managed just that! I made a see-through gap for the eyes then added green clear plastic to give it that gas mask look. Overall I'm really happy with what we have done because I have put a lot of time and effort into making this mask the best I can ( which I think looks really good ) so that's why I rate it a Supernova effort! 

Letter of the week

Today I have finished my Letter of the Week slide, the letter was Q. When I started I had no idea what I was going to do because there are not a lot of words the start and end with Q. I really struggled with the task where I had to find a word that ends with Q because there was a lot of words on websites that I had never heard before so I didn't want to put any of them on my slide. I really like a simple type of theme for the background because its a bit chaotic when there is too much going on so I just went with a cool picture of a sunflower ( Which I think is really pretty ). I really like my sentence for this week because it has a lot of Q's in it and it actually makes sense. Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I put a lot of time and effort into making this slide the best that I can, and I can't wait until next weeks letter!

Chapter Chat

Today I have finished my Chapter Chat, I made a turtle with a laundry basket as it's shell. By the time that I drew my turtle in my draft and I really wanted it to be different than everyone else. So I made it kind of 3D by adding layers and layers of thin cardboard on top of each other to get the 3D effect, I think that it really made it different in a good way. After that, I thought that it looked really cute so for some reason I added an angle halo with some glittery paper and I'm really glad I did that. Now we have just read the part of the book where the turtle comes in but by that time I have already finished my work and the turtle in the book is a bit different than mine like it has a weaved basket shell rather than a plastic shell. Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I think that my work is a Supernova effort!

Case Closed

Today we completed our crime scene investigation. I took us around 6 weeks to come this far and we are really happy with what we have accomplished. We found out that the thief was Mrs Taaffe because all of our evidence and clues had lead up to her, and finally this morning she admitted it. While trying to solve this investigation we have had to learn how to lift fingerprints, match fingerprints and connect all of our evidence to someone, and in the end, we compleated that goal. Today we had got Mrs Taaffe had come into the Whetu team because we had a few questions to ask her, so Mrs Taaffe told us the story: She went to school to get some work done when she needed an HDMI cable so she came to the Whetu team to get out one, but on her way to getting it she saw the milky ways and she loves mini chocolates so she got the HDMI cable and some milky ways and ran off in a rush because she thought that someone was coming. We have forgiven Mrs Taaffe for what she has done al long as she will bye us another bag of Milky Ways.

Letter of the week

Today I have finished my LOTW task, the letter was E. When I first thought of the letter E I thought that it would be really easy but when I started thinking of words my mind went blank. I'm really happy with my sentence that I have done because it's a bit weird but it makes sense to me, and I have added a lot of E's to it. I always find it really hard to think of ideas for my presentation because I want to do something different every week, so this week I had pictures of elephants and emus and decorated them with hats, and headpieces, it took a while but I think that it paid off. Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I think that I have put my best effort into making this slide the best that I can!

Letter of the week

Today I have compleated my LOTW slide, the letter was C. This letter was pretty easy because I could think of lots of words straightway like: cat, cow & car. When I was up to doing the background I was a bit stumped on what to do but, in the end, I put a camel and a sun to go with a desert theme.  I really like my sentence with lots of C's in it because I think that I used lots of c's and it made sense which most of the time they sound a bit weird. Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I think that I have put a lot of time and effort into making it the best that I can.

Guy Fawkes

Today I have finished my blog challenge, I had to research about Guy Fawkes. At first when I saw the word Guy Fawkes I had no idea what it was about, so I was happy that I would be researching it. Later on, I found out that Guy Fawkes was this plot gone wrong, the plot was also known as " The Gun powder plot " which I found really relevant because the plot was mainly about gun powder. It took me a long time to do the presentation because I drew fireworks on the Google Drewing setting Curve, which is not the nicest most of the time, so I had to be really patient. Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I think that I've put a lot of time and effort into making my work the best that I can! 

Online Grammar Cop

Today I have compleated my Online Grammar Cop task. I found that this task was pretty fun because it got me a chance to catch up on my grammar. This task was a bit easy in my opinion because I already knew most of my grammar. But I still put a lot of effort into making it the best that I can because, why not. Overall I'm really happy with what I have compleated because I put lots of time and effort into making these slides amazing, and I think that I have done just that.

 

Prime Minister Christmas Card challenge

Today I've compleated my Prime Minister Christmas card. This activity was really fun because it really got me to think creatively. It was a bit tricky to think of an idea because I have seen so many cool ideas and I didn't want to copy any of them. I found out that there are two ways to colour in 1: Colour in really hard so it will be bold. 2: Colour in very lightly so it will be very gentle and mallow, I ended up going with the first option to colour in boldly because I think its most effective. Overall I'm really happy with all that I have done because I put a lot of time and effort into making it into the best drawing that I can, so that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Grammar Cop

Today I have finished my Grammar Cop wok sheet. I had to fill in the blank spaces with the word him or the word he. It was really cool because it was a piece of writing written by Jill about Jack, so that's where all of the he's and him's came from. I found this worksheet really easy in my opinion because I just put whatever word out of the two that made sense in the sentence. Overall I'm really happy with what I've done because I put my best effort into it, so that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Blog Challenge

Today for the blog challenge I had to find out about Halloween. I found that this was really fun because it was just recently Halloween and its cool to know more traditions closer to the time. I was a bit stumped with what to do for the presentation because I've seen so many cool ideas but I didn't want to copy any but in the end, I made all of the little decorations around that word Halloween and I think that it looks really effective. I found out so many cool/interesting facts about Halloween that I will probably share with the people around me! Overall I'm really happy with what I have done because I have put my best effort into making it into the best that I can, so that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Athletics Reflection

Yesterday it was our school Athletics day. I always find athletics day really fun in my opinion because it gives me a chance to see what all of my training has lead up to. I was really worried about high jump because it is not my best event but all of the training that I have done kind of boosted my confidence ( ended up coming 6th out of 24 people ). My best event is probably shot put which I ended up coming in third and I'm super happy about that! My favourite thing about athletics day is the relays because there is just so much excitement and thrill about them. I have always found that the races really make me nervous because there are a lot of really fast people in my age group, so there is a lot of competition. I think that I used the learning power of resilience because even though I may not be the best at an event I still give my best effort. Overall  I'm really happy with all that I have done because I put my best effort into everything and it really paid off! 

Letter of the Week

Today I have compleated my LOTW task, the letter was R. I found that the letter R was really interesting because you can do so much with one letter. I really liked my presentation that I did, I was going for a good/calm vibe so I thought of interesting fruit like papaya and a watermelon ( they make me feel good ). Mine looks a bit simple but its really effective in my opinion. It took me a while to fit all of the fruits on one slide because they are both oddly shaped but in the end, I managed to fit them all in. Overall I'm really happy with all that I have done because I have put a lot of time and effort into making this google slide to the best of my abilities!

Letter of the week

Today I have completed my Letter of the week Slide, the letter was N. I found that the letter N was a bit tricky because I don't think that there are as many words starting with N compared with the letter A. I was a bit stuck with the presentation because I wanted it to be different from my previous LOTW's. But in the end, I'm really happy with the outcome of my slide because all of the colours and words set a good vibe for everyone. Overall I'm really happy with my slide because I put a lot of effort into making it the best that I can so that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Fingerprinting ( dusting )

Today I have learned how to dust my own fingerprints! I found it really cool to do something like this because it's learning in a fun way! I was really surprised with the outcome of my fingerprints because I would have thought that it would be very technical but really it's super simple. All I had to do to lift my fingerprint is: rub your finger on your hair then place it on a window, use a makeup brush and dip it in cornstarch ( not too much ), rub it on your fingerprint, get some tape stick it on the fingerprint and that is how you lift your fingerprint. Overall I rate my work a Supernova because I tried my best to make it really good!

Missing Capital letters

Today I have compleated the Missing Capital letters worksheet. I had to find 20 missing capital letters in a letter from Cinderellas step mum to Cinderella. I found this worksheet really easy because... Its capital letters and I know them off by heart. But anyway I found it kind of fun while doing it because it was surprisingly relaxing! Overall I'm really happy with all that I have done because I put in my best effort into it, so that's why I rate my work a Supernova!

Fingerprinting

Lately, for our Whetu Case, we've been focusing our work on fingerprints. We have had someone that works for the police ( Sally ) and does all of the fingerprinting work at the station. She talked to us all about what to do when searching for fingerprints and how to find them ( I found it very interesting. ) Later on we took our own fingerprints to see what we have, we used special ink to put on our fingers to make our fingerprints more visible. I found out that I have 0 arches, 6 loops and 4 whorls which I think are pretty cool! The most common type of fingerprint is the loop then it is a whorl and the arch is pretty rear. But there are even more types of fingerprints like the double loop which is kind of like the yin yang symbol, there is also a fingerprint called the accidental loop which looks really cool! Overall I think that I have learnt lots about fingerprints and now I can teach someone outside of school all about it!

Whetu Case #2020

Yesterday was the first day back at school. We all came to surprise when we saw police tape along with a sign saying ''Keep out crime scene''. Later we found out that someone has broken in by cracking the door and stolen some milky ways while making quite a mess, so it is our job to find clues and try to find the culprit. We had to freeze and observe the scene to see what has clearly been involved in the crime that was the first step into solving the mystery. Then we had to make a list of what can be taken to the police station like fingerprints or blood. That is where we have left off for now but I can't wait until we continue our investigating!

Chapter Chat

Today I've compleated my Chapter Chat task, I did art by drawing a picture of Ross with a mowhawk. I really enjoyed this task because in the book they had a lot of description about what Ross looks like so it made it easy to picture what he looks like! I made Ross have a really big mowhawk to make it really stand out. After I drew Ross I thought that the page looked a bit plain so I added a border in red and I think that it looks really good! Overall I'm really happy with my work because I put a lot of  time and effort into making Ross into the best of my abiltys so thats why I rate it a Supernova!
